Alabama Vipers News Release
Huntsville, AL- The Tennessee Valley Vipers have announced that the team has been assigned offensive/defensive lineman Calvin Ousby and Kem Oti for the upcoming 2008 af2 season that will begin March 29th against the South Georgia Wildcats at the Von Braun Center. Ousby, who played last year for the Vipers and totaled 36 pancake blocks, played his collegiate football at Jackson State. "Calvin is a big athletic lineman who has the diversity to play center along with the tight end position, which is critical in arena football," said Vipers head coach Dean Cokinos.
Oti, who played for Lee High school, saw action in two games late last season after being injured for most of the year. Oti also played at the University of North Alabama for 13 games, recording 18 tackles, 1.5 sacks and one forced fumble. "Kem is a soild player. He had an outstanding career at North Alabama and got some arena experience last year. I really like his demeanor and professional approach to the game," said Cokinos.
The Vipers will also hold their first set of tryouts tomorrow morning with another tryout set for January 12th that will include a tryout for kickers. Also, Vipers season tickets are on sale now and available by calling the Vipers office at 256-428-HISS (4487).
