Former DL Devon Parks, currently a member of the AFL's Orlando Predators, has formed a unique partnership with the nonprofit Wishing Star Foundation, just in time for the holiday season.

Parks recently opened a gift-wrapping business, located on the 2nd Floor of River Park Square Mall and will donate a portion of its proceeds directly to the Wishing Star Foundation.

This Saturday, December 15th from 12-3, Parks will be joined by some of his former Shock teammates and members of the Shock Dance Team who will pitch in and help wrap gifts.

"I wanted to do something that would benefit the community that has given me so much with their loyal fan support," Parks explained. "The Wishing Star Foundation does great work to benefit kids in the Spokane community so it was important for my business to find that kind of partnership."

Established in 1983, The Wishing Star Foundation, Inc. is the oldest, wish-granting organization in Eastern and Central Washington and Idaho. Wishing Star grants wishes to children with life-threatening illnesses between the ages of 3 and 21. A child does not need to be terminal to qualify for a wish.

"We have a lot of children who are waiting for wishes and partners like Devon help these special children's wishes come true," said Tracy Taitch, Wishing Star's Development Director.
