Vipers Acquire Macklin from Reno

MCALLEN, Texas - The NBA Development League Rio Grande Valley Vipers today announced that they have acquired Vernon Macklin, along with a second round pick in the 2013 NBA Development League Draft, from the Reno Bighorns in exchange for Jerome Jordan.

Macklin (6-10, PF/C) played in 23 games for the Detroit Pistons during the 2011-12 season. The pistons selected him 52nd overall in the 2011 NBA Draft.

Macklin started his college career playing at Georgetown University for two seasons. Then, he transferred to the University of Florida, where he played for the Gators from 2009-2011. He averaged 11.6 points and 5.4 rebounds per game during his senior season.

Vipers fans will be able to see Macklin in action later this week when RGV hosts the Reno Bighorns Thursday, Dec. 20 in an 11 a.m. contest. On Friday, Dec. 21 the Vipers will host Canton at 7 p.m. at State Farm Arena. For tickets or more information, call 956-972-1144.
