Reno Bighorns News Release
RENO, NEV., December 18, 2012 - The Reno Bighorns are hosting a "First Responders Night" on Friday, January 4th. The team would like to invite all first responders, including police, firefighters, EMTs, and any emergency response personnel, to come to the game and also participate in the Bighorns first-ever "Two-Ball Tournament."
The Two-Ball Tournament will take place before the game, starting at 2 p.m. at the Reno Events Center. Teams of one adult and one child will have 30 seconds to earn points for made baskets of different values around the court. Teams must alternate shots between the adult and child. The winner of the tournament will be determined at halftime of the Bighorns game that night. The winning team will receive a Reno Bighorns gift pack in addition to two courtside seats to a Bighorns game and 10 tickets to donate to a charity of their choice.
"The Department of Public Safety is excited about the upcoming game and we're hoping to have a large turnout," said Trooper Chuck Allen. "We're looking forward to working with other law enforcement agencies and fire departments for this event."
To register or for more information, please call Pat Lahlum at 775-853-8234.
"So many times we think of the victims and the impact a tragedy has on them and their families. It is important that we also remember the first responders who place their lives on the line and must deal with witnessing the tragic events first hand," said Bighorns owner, Herb Santos, Jr. "This is a small way in which we can share an eventful night with the first responders and their families."
Pro-rated season tickets and group tickets are on sale today. For more information, fans can call 775-853-8220. Tickets for the 2013 NBA D-League Showcase are also on sale. The Showcase runs January 7-10 at the Reno Events Center.
