
Vines Dominates in M-Braves' 9-4 Win over Shuckers

PEARL, MS - RHP Darius Vines spun seven innings of one-run ball, and the Mississippi Braves (47-52, 18-12) dominated the Biloxi Shuckers (48-49, 14-16) 9-4 on Thursday night at Trustmark Park.
The M-Braves wore special jerseys from the JMS Burn & Reconstructive Center, which were auctioned off with all proceeds benefiting the Burn Foundation of America.
Vines struck out nine to just one walk, using 100 pitches over seven innings. In his last eight starts, Vines has a 1.51 ERA (7 ER/47.2 IP) with 44 strikeouts to nine walks. He is currently ranked as Atlanta's No. 10 prospect.
The M-Braves scored the first run in the second on an RBI double from Andrew Moritz. He clubbed a low line drive down the third base line on the two-bagger.
Moritz went 2-for-4 with a double, two RBI and a run. The outfielder is batting .271 with 27 RBI this season.
In the fourth, Hendrik Clementina crushed a solo homer, his 11th of the season, to the bullpen in left field to make it 2-0. Clementina finished 2-for-5 with a solo home run.
The M-Braves broke the game open in the fifth. After two walks, Moritz knocked in a run with a base hit. With the bases loaded, Jalen Miller lined a three-run double into the corner of left field. Vaughn Grissom scored the M-Braves fifth run of the inning with a base hit the other way.
Miller extended his hit streak to four games, going 2-for-5 with two doubles and three RBI. Miller has seven home runs and 16 doubles this season. Riley Delgado went 2-for-4 with a walk to improve to an eight-game hitting streak.
Five different M-Braves posted multi-hit games. Jordan Cowan recorded two hits for the second straight game, going 2-for-4 with an RBI, a walk and two runs. Cody Milligan reached on four of five plate appearances, leading off the game with a triple followed by three walks.
The fourth game of the series is on Friday at Trustmark Park. RHP Alan Rangel (4-4, 5.33) makes the start for Mississippi against RHP Carlos Luna (4-4, 4.94) for Biloxi. The first pitch is at 6:35 pm CT, with coverage starting at 6:20 pm CT on 103.9 WYAB, First Pitch App and MiLB.tv.
