GENEVA, ILLINOIS - This Friday, March 24, the Chicago Steel host Video Game Night as the team takes on the Green Bay Gamblers at Fox Valley Ice Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. CT.
Chicago can clinch a playoff berth Friday night with a victory or Muskegon loss in regulation. The team's magic number to clinch their seventh straight playoff berth is at two following victories against the Dubuque Fighting Saints and Madison Capitols this past weekend.
Fans Friday can enjoy video game-related promotions such as Console Controller Trivia, Minecraft Stack, and they'll be encouraged to show off their dance skills in a Fortnite Dance Battle.
Following Friday's game, the Steel head to Green Bay on Saturday night for their first and only road game in the month of March.
This past Saturday, the Steel earned their first win of the season in four tries against Dubuque with a hard-fought 3-2 victory at Fox Valley Ice Arena. Steel forward Jack Harvey scored twice with both goals assisted by Nick Moldenhauer. Goaltender Christian Manz stopped 21 of 23 shots faced to earn his 17th win of the season.
Sunday, Harvey broke the Steel franchise record for most career goals previously held by Matt Coronato with 66 (2019-2021), and Moldenhauer recorded his 100th career point as the Steel defeated the Madison Capitols 7-1 at Fox Valley Ice Arena.
For his performance this past weekend, Harvey earned USHL Forward of the Week honors for the second straight season.
This weekend marks the final two regular season matchups between the Steel (33-15-3-1; 70 pts) and the Gamblers (27-20-2-2; 58 pts). This season, the Steel are 5-3-0-0 against Green Bay. The Steel hold an all-time record of 72-67-6-3, a home record of 42-33-1-2, and a road record of 31-34-5-1 against the Gamblers.
In their last meeting on Feb. 25, the Steel fell 2-0 to the Gamblers at Resch Center in Green Bay. The Steel were shutout for just the second time this season.
Steel forward Michael Emerson has had offensive success against Green Bay and could prove trouble for the Gamblers. In their eight meetings so far this season, Emerson has registered eight points (5G, 3A). In his last 15 games played, Emerson has 17 points (8G, 9A).
Gamblers forward Jimmy Clark has had similar offensive success against Chicago. In their eight meetings, Clark has registered eight points (3G, 5A). In his last 15 games played, Clark has 12 points (5G, 7A).
Next weekend, the Steel are home for a pair of games against USA Hockey NTDP (U18). Saturday, April 1 the first 500 fans in attendance will receive a Blacksmith Rusty Bobblehead presented by Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. CT.
Sunday, April 2 fans are invited to bring their dogs for Pucks and Pups featuring your favorite cartoon dogs presented by PetSuites. Puck drop is scheduled for 3:05 p.m. CT.
Sunday is a Slumberland Family Pack game. The Slumberland Family Pack is a deal which includes four tickets, four hot dogs, four sodas/waters, four chips and four chuck-a-pucks for just $50. The package may be purchased in quantities of four to eight and may be purchased online and selecting from the column on the right side of the ticketing page.
