Victoria Seals News Release

Victoria, BC - The Victoria Seals are proud to announce that they have invited 32 players to participate in the 2010 spring training camp at Royal Athletic Park. With sessions beginning tomorrow morning, all of the players attending the 12-day camp will compete for one of 22 opening day roster positions.

This year's spring training invites include players from four different countries, including 24 from the United States, six from Canada and one from both the Dominican Republic and Venezuela.

"I'm really excited to get the guys out on the field and start running drills," said Seals Field Manager Bret Boone. "Now we begin the process of pushing everyone at camp to their limits, and go with our top 22 from there."

Charlie Strandlund of Victoria was the lone player selected out of today's local Tryout Camp, providing him the opportunity to play for a spot alongside 21 contracted players and 10 other non-contracted invites.

Don't forget that the Victoria Seals will be hosting a Open House from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. tomorrow to celebrate the first day of spring training! It's great chance for fans of all ages to get up close and personal with the 2010 roster. The event will feature a full on-field training session for the team, an autograph session with field manager Bret Boone, an open concession stand, and much more!
