Victoria Seals News Release

Victoria, BC - The Victoria Seals announced today that they will be hosting a one-day tryout camp at Royal Athletic Park as part of the search for the 2010 roster. The event will take place on Friday, May 7 beginning with registration at 8:30 a.m.

Seals President Darren Parker, along with Field Manager Bret Boone and the remainder of the club's coaching staff will be on hand to evaluate talent. Two spots at spring training, scheduled to begin that same weekend, will be set aside for the top players. Please note, prior college or professional experience is required for all athletes attending the tryout camp.

"It was a big disappointment when inclement weather forced us to cancel last year's Island tryout camp in Nanaimo," said Parker. "This part of the country has historically produced a lot of baseball talent, and once again we're very excited by the potential of finding a diamond in the rough."

The registration form can be downloaded at www.victoriaseals.ca, or picked up from the Seals office at 1014 Caledonia Avenue. Space is limited, and will be filled on a first come first served basis. The cost to attend is $60 and players are required to bring their own equipment (gloves, bats, cleats, catcher's gear, etc.). A discounted rate at Victoria's Ramada Inn will also be available for out-of-town participants.

The 2010 Victoria Seals season kicks off May 21 when the brand new Na Ikaika Koa Maui arrive at Royal Athletic Park. Both single game and season tickets for the 2010 campaign are now on sale, available through the Victoria Seals office. Call (250) 220-7777 for more information, or to book your seat today!
