Victoria Seals Announce Spring Training Schedule

Victoria, BC - The Victoria Seals announced today that their spring training camp for the 2010 Golden Baseball League campaign will run from May 8-19 at Royal Athletic Park. All sessions held at the Seals home field will be open to the public, providing fans a sneak peak at the team ahead of the start of the regular season.
Highlighting the 12-day camp will be a pair of exhibition games in Kamloops, BC which feature the Seals against the defending GBL champion Calgary Vipers. The prospective teams will be in the province's Interior from May 11-14. A kid's mini-camp will kick off the festivities on Tuesday afternoon, while evening games slated for Wednesday and Thursday will see partial ticket proceeds donated to Kamloops Minor Baseball.
"Having the opportunity to support youth baseball in Kamloops is something our organization, along with the Golden Baseball League and Calgary Vipers, is very excited about," said Seals president Darren Parker. "Not only do we have the chance to raise some money for the kids, but this also presents a great exhibition of professional baseball in this fantastic market."
The Seals will take to the turf from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on each day the team is at Royal Athletic Park, with the exception of May 9, 15 and 16 when the players will participate in off-site training. Daily schedules will be posted online at www.victoriaseals.ca once camp begins.
Fans can expect to see athletes from all avenues of baseball attending camp, including a selection of former major-league contracted players coming off of spring training rosters and minor league teams. All Golden Baseball League teams are permitted to invite 28 contracted players to spring training, with no limit on free agent player invites.
The 2010 Victoria Seals season kicks off May 21 when the brand new Na Ikaika Koa Maui arrive at Royal Athletic Park.
