Madison Ice Muskies News Release
Madison Ice Muskies director of operations, John Rudolph, is pleased to announce the signing of Rod Davidson as the franchises first head coach and director of player development.
A native of Brantford, Ontario, Davidson is no stranger to professional minor league hockey. He joins the All American Hockey League's Ice Muskies with a wealth of experience as a coach, scout and general manager.
"Rod has been the ultimate professional in the hockey community for close to twenty years," said Rudolph. "He brings instant credibility to our franchise, both on and off the ice."
Davidson began his career in 1992 as the director of player personnel and assistant coach for the Brantford Smoke of the Colonial Hockey League. He has been a head coach in the WPHL, CHL and WCHL, serving 344 games as a bench boss. Davidson guided the Alexandria Warthogs in 1998-99, the Indianapolis Ice from 1999-2002 and the Anchorage Aces in 2002-03.
His greatest achievement was guiding the Ice to a Central Hockey League title in 2000. Davidson was also an integral part of the 1992 Colonial Cup Championship and served as head scout for two International Hockey League Turner Cup Championship teams.
"It's a great opportunity to join the Ice Muskies and the All American Hockey League," said Davidson. John Rudolph has a great passion for the game and I honestly believe we will have a great working relationship. Madison is an ideal location and I am looking forward to assembling a team that the community can be proud of."
Davidson has been regarded as a player-friendly coach who stresses an offensive minded system. His past teams were highly entertaining, well disciplined and very accessible in their respective communities.
Back home in Canada, Davidson has been married to wife, Carolyn for 38 years. They are parents of son Rob and daughter Lynn.
