Madison Ice Muskies News Release

DYER, Ind. - Playing their third game on the road in less than 48 hours, the Madison Ice Muskies (4-5-2) ran out of gas Sunday against the Chi-town Shooters (6-2-0) and lost 7-3.

Madison held a 2-1 lead in the second period, but lost that lead with 11:32 on the clock when Justin McCutcheon, who led the Shooters with four points, tied the game off a pass from Justin Barr. The Ice Muskies turned the puck over in the neutral zone allowing Barr to create a 2-on-1 opportunity for Chi-town. The Shooters' captain found McCutcheon in the slot who beat Madison goaltender Nick Neidert to tie the game at two.

It didn't stay tied for long. Just 2:34 later, the AAHL's leading scorer, Ryan Gervais, gave the Shooters the lead when he gathered his own rebound and slipped the puck in the net. Neidert had a chance to glove Gervais' initial shot, but the puck came out of his glove and bounced right back to the Shooters' forward who gave his team the 3-2 lead.

The Ice Muskies managed to tie the game with 4:14 remaining in the second on a goal by Mike Thomson (La Habra, Calif.), but that's all the Ice Muskies would get.

Less than two minutes later, Neidert attempted to clear the puck out of his own zone, but Shooters' forward Matt Moffat picked off the puck at the point, skated to the high slot and hammered a shot past the Ice Muskies goaltender to give Chi-town a lead it would never relinquish. It was Moffat's second goal of the game.

Barr added two goals in the final period and J.P. Pauly capped off the win for the Shooters with the final goal at the 14:15 mark of the third.

Andy Cripps (Madison, Wis.) scored the Ice Muskies first goal with 3:16 left in the first period and Brent Parks (Madison, Wis.) added a goal and assist for Madison. Parks and Thomson lead the team with two points apiece.

The Ice Muskies return home next weekend where they are 3-1-1 on the season. Saturday's game will be played at Hartmeyer Ice Arena with the puck dropping at 8:35 p.m. Sunday's game starts at 5 p.m. from Oregon Community Sports Arena.
