Blaze Earns Series Split As Ice Muskies Fall

November 7, 2009 - All American Hockey League (AAHL)
Madison Ice Muskies News Release

A three goal deficit was too much for the Ice Muskies to overcome Saturday night at Oregon Community Sports Arena as they fell 4-2 to the Chicago Blaze.

After a scoreless first period, the Ice Muskies (3-4-1), which have three come-from-behind wins this season, fell behind in the second period 3-0 after forwards Pat Doyle, Andrew Corvo and Nigel Hawryliw all found the back of the net for the Blaze (6-1-0).

But the Ice Muskies fought back and looked as if they were going to pull off another comeback after Nathan Lawrence and Solomon McCann scored just two minutes apart. McCann's goal pulled Madison within one with just 12 seconds left in the second period.

The Blaze defense proved to be too much for the Ice Muskies, however, as Madison would not score again.

The Ice Muskies now head back on the road for three games in three days next weekend. They will play at Detroit Friday night before playing two in Dyer, IN Saturday and Sunday against the Chi-town Shooters.
