Venues Plan for SuperLiga 2007 Semifinals and Final Announced

NEW YORK (Wednesday, August 1, 2007) - Soccer United Marketing (SUM) in conjunction with the Federacion Mexicana de Futbol (FMF) today announced the venue plan for the SuperLiga semifinals scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday, August 14 and 15, as well as the final on Wednesday, August 29.
Hosting Scenarios
A. If a MLS team plays a team representing FMF, the MLS team will host.
B. If an FMF team plays another FMF team, the site will be Toyota Park (Bridgeview, IL).
C. If an MLS team plays another MLS team, performance during group play in SuperLiga determined which club will host. Tiebreakers are (in order):
Most Points during the first round
Head to Head
Goal differential
Goals scored
Drawing of lots
Scenarios for the SuperLiga Semifinals (August 14 & 15)
As of July 31, the dates and venue scenarios are:
1. LA Galaxy (A1) will host B2 on August 15 at The Home Depot Center (10:00 p.m. ET); tickets for this match will go on sale this Thursday, August 2 at 10am PT via Ticketmaster and by calling 877-3GALAXY.
2. If D.C. United wins its group game on Aug. 1, United will host Pachuca on August 14 at Fedex Field (9:00 p.m. ET); should this scenario be confirmed, tickets for this match will go on sale this Thursday, August 2 via Ticketmaster and by calling 202-587-5000.
3. If Houston Dynamo wins its group game on Aug. 1, the Dynamo will host Pachuca on August 14 at Robertson Stadium (10:00 p.m. ET); should this scenario be confirmed, tickets for this match are available by calling 713-276-7500.
4. If on Aug. 1, Morelia wins AND either Houston Dynamo or D.C. United win, Morelia would be B2 and travel to LA to face the Galaxy at HDC on August 15. The Houston-D.C. winner would host Pachuca on August 14.
5. If on Aug. 1, Morelia wins by a score of 1-0 AND D.C. United and Houston Dynamo draw 1-1, this would require drawing of the lots for a three-way draw to determine the advancing clubs.
6. If on Aug. 1, Morelia wins by two or more goals, and D.C. United and Houston Dynamo draw, Morelia would take the top spot of the group on the basis of goal differential. Morelia, as B1, would face Pachuca on August 14 at Toyota Park in Bridgeview, IL (10:00 p.m. ET). The advancing club between Houston Dynamo and D.C. United would be decided by drawing of lots. The winner of the lots would move on as B2 and face the LA Galaxy on August 15 at HDC.
7. If on Aug. 1, Morelia loses, both Houston Dynamo and D.C. United qualify in Group B. Depending on the result between Houston-D.C., see points 2 and 3 above (the winner will host Pachuca on Aug. 14; the loser will play the Galaxy at The Home Depot Center on Aug. 15). If the score is tied, the advancing club would be decided by drawing of lots, with the winner hosting Pachuca and the loser traveling to Los Angeles to face the Galaxy.
Venue Scenarios for the SuperLiga Final (August 29)
A. If an MLS team qualifies to the SuperLiga 2007 final versus an FMF team, the MLS team will host.
B. If an FMF team plays another FMF team in the SuperLiga 2007 final, Houston's Robertson Stadium will host the match.
C. If an MLS team plays another MLS team in the SuperLiga 2007 final, performance during the entire tournament (first round and semifinals) will determine which club will host. Tiebreakers are (in order):
Most Points during the first round and semifinals
Head to Head
Goal differential
Goals scored
Drawing of lots
Group A was decided on Tuesday night. LA Galaxy defeated FC Dallas 6-5 and secured the top position in the group (A1). Pachuca then defeated Guadalajara 1-0, and moved on as A2. Group B will be decided Wednesday night. Houston Dynamo and D.C. United are tied for first with four points each. The top two teams move on to face the opposing group's top teams (A1: LA Galaxy vs. B2 and B1 vs. A2: Pachuca) in the semifinals on August 14 and 15.
