Amarillo, TX 3/12/10 - The Amarillo Venom and 1440 AM ESPN Radio (KPUR) will join forces in 2010 to carry all 14 regular season game broadcasts.
KPUR will broadcast all home and away regular season games as well as the "Jon Lyles' Coach's Shows" every Monday throughout the season. The first game broadcast begins this Saturday, March 13th at 7pm CST.
Cody Eastwood will serve as the play-by-play broadcaster for 13 Venom contests in his second season as Director of Media Relations & Broadcasting. A native of Houston, Texas, Eastwood has done broadcasting work for the Amarillo Dusters of the Arena Football 2 league, Amarillo Gorillas & Texas Brahmas of the Central Hockey League, the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League, and the Detroit Red Wings of the National Hockey League. An Eagle Scout, Cody has also worked for ESPN Radio in Dallas and Houston, ABC Radio Networks, Fox Sports Southwest, and the Sun Belt Conference. Cody earned his Associate of Arts degree in Spanish from San Jacinto College and his Bachelor's degree in Radio/Television/Film from the University of North Texas.
Due to a scheduling conflict with the Amarillo Gorillas hockey team on March 13th, Trevor Tankersley will provide the play-by-play coverage for Saturday's action in Odessa on 1440 AM ESPN Radio while Cody Eastwood will handle the hockey duties on 1550 AM ESPN Deportes Radio. Tankersley, the Oklahoma State alum, has called football games at the 5-A High School level and is currently the Sports Director & Anchor at KWES in Odessa.
