(ALBANY, NY) – Quarterback Ryan Vena has been setting league records, and racking up victories, all season long with his stellar play under center for the Albany Conquest. His main target, for the second season in a row, has been his former college wide receiver, and current offensive specialist, Corey Hill.

When the two suit up against the Mohegan Wolves, this Saturday night at the Pepsi Arena, they will once again be chasing football history and the arenafootball2 league record books. Vena is the current league leader in Passing Yards (4,205), Total Offense (4,359), Pass Completions (324) and Passer Rating (123.47). He needs just 213 yards to eclipse the all-time mark for passing yards in a single season (4,417), set by Arkansas Twisters signal-caller John Nielsen in 2000. Vena ranks second in af2 in touchdown passes (82) and completion percentage (68%), third in rushing touchdowns (14) and fifth in rushing yards (154). The af2 Offensive Player of the Year candidate can also help his teammate, Hill, achieve football history again in the final week of the season.

Vena should have his name permanently etched into the af2 record books, putting the 2nd-year signal-caller in the top five in several of the league's passing categories by season's end.

Hill enters this week's game with 148 receptions, twenty-five ahead of the next closest receiver, and thirteen away from the all-time professional football record for receptions in a single-season (161), a record Hill himself set last season with the Conquest. Hill caught 18 passes in the final regular season game of the 2002 season, breaking the previous record set by Darrell Mitchell of the Toronto Argonauts (CFL). The 18 receptions was a league record until just this past week when Cape Fear WR/LB Anthony Hines hauled in 19 receptions against the Norfolk Nighthawks.
