ValleyCats Cruise Past Expos Late, 13-3

BURLINGTON, VT --- Adam Seuss was 3-for-6 with eight RBI, including seven RBI as the Tri-City ValleyCats erased a 3-1 deficit with 12 runs over the final three innings for a 13-3 victory and handed the Vermont Expos its 10th straight loss in New York-Penn League action Wednesday night at Centennial Field.

Suess started off his career night with an RBI single in the first inning. Vermont took a 3-1 lead with three runs in the bottom of the first that held up until the seventh inning when Suess hit a three-run homer to give the ValleyCats a 5-3 lead.

Suess, who entered the game with just one RBI in his first 11 games, added a two-run double in a five-run Tri-City eighth inning and a two-run single in a three-run ninth inning.

Teammate Chad Prosser, who entered the game 1-for-23, went 4-for-4 with one walk and three runs scored. Scott Robinson was 3-for-5 with three runs, one double and two RBI as four Tri-City relievers combined to allow just two hits over the final four innings.

Vermont starter Clint Everts allowed just one run on five hits with four walks and four strikouts over the first six innings, leaving with the 3-1 lead. But three Expos relievers combined to allow 12 runs on 10 hits with three walks over the final three innings.

Vermont got all three of its runs and three of its six hits in the first inning. Back-to-back singles and a walk loaded the bases with one out. Tim Sweeney followed with a bloop single inbetween three Tri-City fielder into centerfield to tie the game 1-1. Brad Ditter followed with a chopper to first that got past first baseman Robinson into right field to score two more runs for the 3-1 Vermont lead.

Tri-City (8-7) swept all five games in the five-game series to help give Vermont (1-15) its second-ever double digit losing streak.

The Expos will hit the road on Thursday for two-games at Oneonta as five members of the Vermont front office spend the night in the home dugout at Centennial Field waiting for a Vermont victory to free them from "Slumper Party".
