Vallejo Admirals Open Season
The Admirals opened their 2019 season on Friday, May 31 at Wilson Park. A big crowd of 426 came out to see all the pageantry of Opening Night! There was a buzz in the park as the baseball season was finally underway.
Things didn't quite go the Admirals' way. Napa pitchers Sam Curtis and Tre Hobbs combined on a five-hit shutout to lead the Silverados to a 4-0 win. Curtis pitched the first six innings and struck out nine. New third baseman Zach Files had a double and Nick Crouse had a triple for Vallejo. Dakota Freese started for the Admirals and pitched well, going 6 1/3 innings. He allowed three runs although two of them scored after he left the game.
On June 1, the Admirals traveled to San Rafael to face the Pacifics. It was a tough night for Vallejo as San Rafael pounded out a 15-3 win. Highlights for the Admirals were a two-run homer by Ricky Gingras and Tillman Pugh's first home run in his return to Vallejo, a solo shot.
The Admirals return home today to face San Rafael. First pitch at Wilson Park is 1:05 p.m. Come on out and join in on the fun! Or, make your plans now for the season.
