à Former Admiral Gadiel Baez participated front-and-center in Monday's MLB Home Run Derby at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C. Gadiel's brother, Javier Baez of the Chicago Cubs, chose the one-time Vallejo infielder as his batting-practice and Derby pitcher for the All-Star festivities.

à New Admirals pitcher Amilcar Cruz [uh-meal-car] is a recent Minnesota Twins farmhand, having pitched in the Gulf Coast League as recently as July 6. Cruz made 35 appearances in the Twins system across the Dominican Summer and Gulf Coast rookie leagues since signing in May 2016. The Dominican native takes Luis Ramirez's spot on the roster, as the Admirals lefty has been placed on the inactive list.

à In a sense, Vallejo has swung to the other end of the pendulum. This is the team's first four-game losing streak; their only four-game winning streak occurred at the outset.

à Nick Akins Sr. remains tied with Tillman Pugh on the all-time single-season homer list for Vallejo. Chris Fornaci's Tuesday home run ties him with Rian Kiniry and Sonoma's Miles Williams in second behind Akins for the league lead.

à Cyle Figueroa leads the club in batting average at .343, but as of Thursday, he was 12 plate appearances short of appearing on the league leaderboard.

à Brandon Pugh is not related to Tillman Pugh.

à Brett Schneider has saved or won the game the last four times he has pitched. He carries a 1.12 ERA into tonight.

The Admirals lost their fourth straight game, this one a 7-5 decision on Wednesday to the Sonoma Stompers at Arnold Field. The Admirals got home runs from Chris Fornaci and David Kiriakos but were swept in the two-game Pacific Association series. Vallejo went up 3-1 in the fifth when Nick Crouse singled and Fornaci hit his 14th homer. Later in the inning, Kiriakos drove in Rian Kiniry. Sonoma tied it 3-3 in the fifth and Vallejo scored once more in the sixth to lead 4-3 before the Stompers scored twice in the bottom of the sixth to pull ahead 5-4. Vallejo added one more in the ninth on Kiriakos' solo homer, his ninth of the season. Frank Valentino (2-4) suffered the loss as he went 5 2/3 innings, allowing five runs and four hits. He had four wild pitches. Juan Espinoza (1-0) earned the win as he went six innings, allowing six hits and four runs, three earned. Jacob Cox earned his 14th save despite allowing a run in the ninth. The Admirals did not lose any ground to first-place San Rafael, which lost to Napa 6-2. With the win, Sonoma is just three back of first place.
