The Vallejo Admirals let a four-run lead slip away and then couldn't hold a one-run lead in the 11th as the host Sonoma Stompers walked off in the bottom of the 11th, 11-9, on Sunday to complete a series at Arnold Field. The two teams split the two-game series and the Stompers won three of four against the Admirals last week. With the loss, Vallejo (14-8) dropped into second place and is a game back of first-place San Rafael (15-7) in the league standings. Sonoma (13-9) is in third place, two games back.

The Admirals led 7-3 after a five-run fifth as first baseman Graylin Derke hit his sixth homer, a grand slam. Derke had five RBIs for the game and leads the Pacific Association with 34. His batting average is .368, good for third in the circuit. The Stompers rallied against the Admirals' bullpen, scoring two in the eighth and two more in the ninth to tie it 8-8 heading into extra innings.

Vallejo took a 9-8 lead in the top of the 11th on an unearned run as Chris Fornaci scored. In the bottom of the 11th, Kam Stewart hit a walkoff homer against losing pitcher Cage Cascone. The winning pitcher was Jacob Cox, who went the final three innings. Nick Akins Sr. had two hits and Fornaci hit his fifth homer for the Admirals.

Frank Valentino started the game and went five innings, allowing three hits and walking seven. Eddie Mora-Loera had three hits for the Stompers. Vallejo has four straight at home starting with Tuesday's game against San Rafael.

ARE THESE ADMIRALS HOT IN HERE? OR IS IT JUST ME?

30 - Martin Cronin - 3-1, 1.25 ERA, 28.2 IP, 14 K

Vallejo's Opening Night starter has truly earned the moniker of "ace." Not bad for a chap who left baseball for a while.

40 - Graylin Derke - .368 BA, 6 HR, 34 RBI, 1.171 OPS

The league RBI leader (by nine - Sonoma's Kenny Meimersdorf has 25) clocked a grand slam on Sunday at Arnold Field.

13 - Nick Akins Sr. - .312 BA, 8 HR, 20 RBI, 1.018 OPS

Having amped up the power, the Admirals' batting coach is now tied with Meimersdorf for the league lead in dingers.

8 - Chris Fornaci - .273 BA, 6 HR, 13 RBI, .960 OPS

Besides playing his usual stellar third base, Chris has homered in three consecutive games from the 9-hole in the order.
