Summary
Strong pitching and timely hitting allowed the Akron RubberDucks to come away with the 3-1 victory over the Harrisburg Senators on Friday night at Canal Park. Akron's magic number to clinch the first half is down to two.
Turning Point
Holding onto a one run lead in the fifth, Akron looked for some needed insurance runs. George Valera heeded the call and launched a 431-foot solo home run over the center field batter's eye to stretch the Akron lead to 3-1.
Mound Presence
Xzavion Curry got the start for Akron and worked around Harrisburg base runners throughout the night. In total, Curry tossed six and two third innings allowing one unearned run while striking out four. Thomas Ponticelli threw one and one thirds scoreless innings. Jerson Ramirez tossed a scoreless inning to pick up the save.
Duck Tales
Trailing 1-0 Akron answered back in the second inning when Raynel Delgado was hit by a pitch followed by a Julian Escobedo walk and a later Daniel Schneemann walk to load the bases. Chris Roller leggd out an infield single to score one and tie the game 1-1. Brayan Rocchio followed with a sacrifice fly to score Escobedo and give Akron the lead 2-1.

Valera continues his hot hitting picking up two hits and increasing his yearly total to 67, which leads the team...Micah Pries continued his dominance of Harrisburg pitching, picking up two more hits in tonight's game and increasing his series average to .462...Game Time: 2:27...Attendance: 6,019.

The RubberDucks will continue their series against the Harrisburg Senators Saturday, June 25 at 7:05 p.m. at Canal Park.
