Utah extends ABA record win streak to 23 in Bellevue
January 28, 2005 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Utah Snowbears News Release
Clay Tucker led the way, as Utah won 104-95 in a sluggishly played game in Bellevue. The Blackhawks made a valiant effort, but in a game that was marred by sloppy play and even sloppier officiating, Utah prevailed over Bellevue to remain unbeaten. Bellevue fell to 9-9 with six of its losses to Utah.
Tucker even had the play of the game, a 55 foot shot to end the first quarter. Tucker took the inbound pass and took one dribble before launching the shot, which by ABA rules is worth 4 points. That shot finished a 13-2 Utah run to finish the first period. Curtis Millage had seven points in the quarter off two steals, while Alex Austin had six points for Utah. Eric Sandrin led the way for Bellevue with 8. Tucker took over in the second to increase Utah's lead to 21 before Jimmie Haywood cut the lead to 12 at the half.
The Blackhawks made a game of things behind Eric Sandrin and his 10 third quarter points. Tucker answered with 11 of his own in the quarter, but Bellevue cut the Utah lead to 2 several times. The quarter featured technicals against Utah and a scoreboard malfunction which lead to scoring concerns. Utah lead 82-76 heading into the fourth, abd Dontay Harris got hot with 10 points in the final period. Harold Arceneaux, Tony Farmer and Clay Tucker all had 6 points in the fourth, and Utah improved its record to 23-0.
Tucker finished with 30, while Arceneaux added 21. Tony Farmer and Alex Austin finished with 12 and 10 points respectively. Jimmie Haywood led Bellevue with 22, while Sandrin finished with 18. Dontay Harris added 17 and Justin Murray 12.
