US Open Arena Soccer Championships Quarterfinal Announced

Saturday, February 1st, the B-52s will host the Chicago Mustangs in a quarterfinal of the US Open Arena Soccer Championships at Hartman Arena. The game will double as league play (counting towards regular season record) and as tournament play. Should we end the night with a win, we will move to 7 and 6 in the league, 8 and 6 overall. We will also advance to the Semifinal of the USOASC to face the Cleveland Freeze for a spot in the Championship. Time, date, and location for that fixture will be determined after the outcome of Saturday's match.

The B-52s entered the tournament in the Round of 32 when they hosted the Denver Dynamite of the Premier Arena Soccer League. A 15-6 victory ( Report ) advanced us to the Round of 16 in Tulsa last weekend. Wichita won over the Revolution 10-9 in an intense game ( Report ).

The Mustangs arrived to this stage by a forfeit win in the Round of 32, and a 10-5 defeat over the AAC Eagles (independent) in the Round of 16. Chicago is undefeated so far this season with a 12-0 record. An earlier meeting in November saw the Mustangs emerge 9-5 over the B-52s in a tough game. Wichita led at halftime, but ran out of gas in the second-leg of a double-header weekend in Illinois ( Report ).

Wichita is 7 and 6 overall and are coming off a 10-9 win in Tulsa last weekend. Chicago is 12 and 0 and are coming off of a 12-5 win over Harrisburg.
