A pair of Bloomington, Minnesota natives gave the U.S. a four-goal cushion as Peter Mueller and Ryan Stoa tallied at the 6:47 and 8:41 mark respectively in the first period. Three minutes and twenty-nine seconds after Stoa had scored his twelfth of the year, Zac MacVoy (Livonia, Mich.) recorded his fifth of the season with a precision shot to the upper right side of the net.
