Phoenix Rising FC News Release

Touch, pace, finishing, and fitness.

These are just a few of the things new Arizona United SC head coach Frank Yallop is looking for as he builds his roster for 2016. But there is one more quality he's looking for in potential players. A desire to represent Arizona United.

"I want to get guys here that want to be in Arizona," Yallop said. "I don't want guys ... doing the club a favor by just playing soccer at a club. I want them to be attached to Arizona United. ... I (told) them if we're going to do something together, let's do it right."

He added: "I want this thing built properly and built to last. That's the plan."

Yallop recently returned from a trip to Tucson, where he spent time watching and evaluating trialists. With the help from PDL side FC Tucson, Yallop watched some of the trialists play in preseason friendlies against MLS clubs.

While he couldn't give specifics about individual players, Yallop liked what he saw overall.

"I'm very excited," Yallop said. "The big thing for me is that we don't panic and just sign a bunch of guys we feel will start the season and then all of a sudden you realize you got the wrong ones."

The club will head to Casa Grande for its first training sessions of the season on February 16. In that time, Yallop will continue to evaluate and sign players as he puts together his roster before the 2016 opener on March 26 in Los Angeles.

"I just want to make sure the fans are entertained when they come to the park," Yallop said.
