
Union Academy Products Brenden Aaronson, Matt Freese Named to Represent MLS at 2019 MLS Homegrown Game

CHESTER, Pa. - Philadelphia Union, in conjunction with MLS, announced today that Academy Products Brenden Aaronson and Matt Freese have each been named to the roster for the 2019 MLS Homegrown Game presented by Energizer®.
The team, to be coached by Orlando City SC Academy Director Marcelo Neveleff, features some of the league's most accomplished young stars. The squad will take on Chivas de Guadalajara's Under-20 side on Tuesday, July 30 at 5 p.m. ET (TUDN / Twitter.com) at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex near Orlando, FL.
Both Aaronson and Freese have been integral to the first-place Union's success this season. Aaronson, an 18-year-old midfielder from Medford, NJ, has appeared in 18 matches (16 starts), recording one goal and one assist.
Meanwhile, Freese, a 20-year-old goalkeeper from Wayne, PA, has played six games (five starts), registering a 1.44 goals-against average. He earned his first victory in net at Orlando on July 3.
The Union are one of five MLS clubs with multiple players on the 2019 Homegrown Game roster, joining FC Dallas, Orlando, Montreal, and Colorado. Aaronson and Freese become the seventh and eighth players to represent the Union at this event. All six of the Homegrown Players on the Union's current active roster have represented the club at the Homegrown Game at least once.
