Breaking Down the XI | A-Team for Open Cup
July 10, 2019 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Orlando City SC News Release
It's Wednesday night in the City Beautiful and Orlando City is set to take on NYCFC in the U.S. Open Cup Quarterfinals. James O'Connor isn't holding back and has deployed a first choice lineup for the matchup.
In back, Adam Grinwis will get the start. Grinwis has performed exceptionally in the Open Cup, making some acrobatic saves in his two starts, and will have a chance to build on that tonight.
In front of him, Kyle Smith, Robin Jansson, Lamine Sané, and Ruan will man the backline. Left back João Moutinho is still nursing an injury and won't return until at least this weekend against Columbus.
In the midfield we see the familiar trio of Will Johnson, Sacha Kljestan, and Sebas Méndez.
Up top, Nani, Tesho Akindele, and Chris Mueller will form the attack. This will be Nani's first career U.S. Open Cup start.
Starting XI presented by Orlando Health: Grinwis, Smith, Jansson, Sané, Ruan, Johnson, Kljestan, Méndez, Nani, Akindele, Mueller.
Bench: De John, Dwyer, Michel, Patiño, Powers, Rosell, Rowe
