Lone Star Brahmas News Release
NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TX - On a night dedicated to the kids, Friday's feature didn't contain a happy ending as the Brahmas fell to the 'Cats by a score of 2-1.
The first ten minutes of the first period were perhaps the best the offense has put on display so far this season. Chance after chance went by yet it was the Wildcats who struck first when Andre Pison beat Corbin Kaczperski low to the blocker side.
Minutes later Oskar Andren would score his team-leading fifth power play goal of the season to knot things up at one and the NYTEX ice became filled with teddy bears.
After a brief five-minute delay to clean the ice play resumed and the first period passed by without any more scoring.
The second period went scoreless as the Wildcats inched their way back into controlling the game and it showed in the third.
Midway through the third period it was Nick Rosa slamming home a back door opportunity to push his team ahead by one, a lead they wouldn't look back from.
Even opposing the extra attacker in the final few minutes Justin Kapelmaster remained strong enough for a victory, stopping 24 of 25.
The two teams will battle again tomorrow night at NYTEX beginning at 7:35 as a part of Star Wars Night. Tickets are still available by calling 817-336-4ICE, stopping by the NYTEX Sports Centre box office, or by clicking atop your screen under TICKETS.
