Green Bay Blizzard News Release
With just under a week of practice in the books two Green Bay Blizzard players are still performing well in the United Football League's (UFL) inaugural season. 2004 Blizzard quarterback Chris Greisen and 2009 Blizzard wide receiver Brian Hernandez have made their respective rosters and look to compete for starting positions by the start of the regular season.
Greisen is playing for the Florida Tuskers and is in a heated quarterback battle with Darrell Hackney and Brooks Bollinger former Wisconsin Badger quarterback and a recent addition to the Tusker roster.
"I am excited to play in the outdoor game again, it is where everyone started playing football,"Â Greisen said "timing and footwork are two of my focuses while transitioning from the indoor game to the outdoor game."Â
The Tusker's offensive coordinator Jay Gruden coached with the Orlando Predators in the AFL and frequently saw Greisen play with the Georgia Force. In 2007, Greisen set two AFL passing records with 117 touchdowns and a 74 percent completion percentage.
Hernandez made the Las Vegas Locomotives roster and is enjoying the experience. The Locomotives are currently practicing in Arizona and will be looking to use Hernandez's speed and agility that he should while in Green Bay during the past Blizzard season. In six games, he accumulated 22 receptions for 296 yards and four touchdowns on offense but also performed well on special teams with 13 kick returns for 317 yards and a touchdown.
