Utica City FC News Release
Utica, N.Y. - Cristhian Segura had two goals and four assists, Jake Schindler chipped in with two goals and an assist, and Liam Callahan added two late goals in Utica City FC's 10-6 victory over the Harrisburg Heat Saturday night at the Adirondack Bank Center. The Save of the Day 50/50 Mega Month jackpot hit $57,175.
Utica City opened the scoring early in the first quarter when Schindler found himself open on the left-wing and powered a shot past Heat goalkeeper Jesus Molina. Harrisburg leveled the contest after Dylan Hundelt scored on a breakaway past Andrew Coughlin for a shorthanded goal.
City quickly retook the lead in the second quarter. Utica's dynamic midfielder received the ball near the yellow line and weaved his way around his defender to set up Ricardo Diegues. Diegues' tidy finish was his fifth goal in the last two games for UCFC.
Schindler doubled their lead midway through the second quarter. The defender was in the right place at the right time to deflect Segura's goal-bound effort past Molina. Segura would soon after get his goal. The midfielder from Sonora, Mexico received a pass from Darren Toby and rifled a right-footed blast past Molina for this third point of the contest. Utica's three-unanswered goals closed out the first half with a 4-1 advantage.
Diegues opened the second half with a power-play goal to extend Utica's lead to 5-1. Segura soon followed with the highlight goal of the evening. After Moises Gonzalez's shot ricocheted off the board to Segura, who hit a 25-yard volley past Molina for his second goal and fifth point of the night.
Harrisburg would gain momentum in the fourth quarter, Patrick Thompson scored two goals for the Heat who got as close as 8-6. A dynamic effort from Onua Obassi quelled Harrisburg's momentum before Callahan added his second of the night to finish the contest at 10-6.
