WATERLOO, Iowa - Jack Campbell (Port Huron, Mich.) stopped 22-of-23 shots to help the U.S. National Under-18 Team down the Waterloo Black Hawks, 3-1, here tonight.

Team USA jumped out to an early 1-0 lead when Bryan Rust (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) collected a rebound off of a shot from Stephen Johns (Wampum, Pa.) and backhanded the puck into the open goal just 3:10 into the opening stanza.

Brandon Saad (Gibsonia, Pa.) doubled the U.S. advantage at the 6:20 mark of the second period after he scooped up a loose puck in the middle slot and slid it past sprawling goaltender C.J. Motte. With just 1:23 remaining in the frame, Justin Faulk (South St. Paul, Minn.) charged in on the left side to chip home Austin Czarnik's (Washington, Mich.) rebound to make it 3-0. Campbell stopped all 10 shots he faced in the middle 20 minutes to keep the Black Hawks scoreless.

At the 9:16 mark of the final period, Scott Wamsganz converted on a centering feed from Bryce Ravndalen to get the Black Hawks on the board. Despite a furious effort in the closing minutes from Waterloo, Campbell and the U.S. defense stood tall, allowing Team USA to earn the 3-1 win.

The U.S. National Under-18 Team will close out the 2009-10 regular season with a pair of road games next weekend. Team USA will take on the Chicago Steel Friday (March 19) at 7:30 p.m. CST at the Edge Ice Arena. Then on Saturday, the U.S. will close out its USHL schedule against defending Clark Cup champion Indiana Ice at Pepsi Coliseum at 7:05 p.m. EST.
