
U.S. Nat'l U18 Team Tops Fredonia St., 7-3

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - William Wrenn (Anchorage, Alaska) scored two goals and Cam Fowler (Farmington Hills, Mich.) notched four assists as the U.S. National Under-18 Team defeated Fredonia State University 7-3 here tonight.
Team USA started off the scoring early in the first period at 1:05 when Chris Brown (Flower Mound, Texas) was able to convert on his second rebound attempt for a power-play goal. The lead was stretched to 2-0 at 16:17 on a quick wrist shot by John Henrion (Holden, Mass.) from between the circles.
In the second stanza, Team USA tallied its third straight goal at 1:56 during a penalty kill when Kenny Ryan (Franklin Village, Mich.) had a backhand chip shot squeeze past netminder Pat Street. At 5:37, during four-on-four play, Wrenn fired a quick wrist shot into the lower-right corner of the net to make the score 4-0. John Ramage (Chesterfield, Mo.) gave Team USA a five-goal advantage at 8:28 on a one-time slap shot from the left circle during a four-on-three power play. Assists were given to Sam Calabrese (Park Ridge, Ill.) and Kyle Palmieri (Montvale, N.J.). Fredonia State notched its first goal of the game at 10:42 on a slap shot by Steve Rizer that made it past USA goalie Brandon Maxwell (Winter Park, Fla.). Team USA responded at 15:44 during a power play as Jerry D'Amigo (Binghamton, N.Y.) was able to slide the puck underneath Street off assists from Ryan and Fowler to make the score 6-1.
In the third frame at 1:52, Team USA scored its seventh and final goal on the power play when Wrenn fired a slap shot into the lower-left corner past Blue Devils goalie Kody Van Rentergem. Assists were recorded by Fowler and D'Amigo.
Maxwell totaled 18 saves for the game.
The U.S. National Under-18 Team will meet the University of Northern Michigan on Saturday (December 13) at 7:30 p.m. ET.
NOTES: The U.S. National Under-18 Team improved to 5-0-0 against NCAA Division III competition ... Kyle Palmieri has notched nine points (3-6) during Team USA's last four games ... William Wrenn's goal in the second period was his first career goal with USA NTDP ... Cam Fowler owns the team lead in assists with 17 and is now second on the team in points with 21 ...
