ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Drew Shore (Denver, Colo.) notched two goals and Brandon Maxwell (Winter Park, Fla.) made 35 saves as the U.S. National Under-18 Team dropped RIT, 6-3, here tonight at Blue Cross Arena.

Ryan Bourque (Boxford, Mich.) put Team USA up 1-0 with a shorthanded tally at 12:27 of the opening frame. The goal came after he broke in with A.J. Treais (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) two-on-one, held onto the puck, then ripped a snapshot over the blocker of netminder Jan Ropponen. Team USA's second goal came after Treais converted on a tic-tac-toe passing play that involved Bourque and Jeremy Morin (Auburn, N.Y.) with just 52 seconds remaining in the period. Morin fed it to Bourque in the slot, who sent it to Treais who slid the puck into the open net. Maxwell turned aside all 12 shots he faced to keep it 2-0 after the first 20 minutes.

RIT answered back with a pair of goals from Justin Hofstetter and Anton Kharin within the first five minutes of the second stanza. Just 30 seconds after Kharin's goal, Shore walked into the Tigers zone and fired a slap shot that glanced off of Ropponen and into the back of the net for a power-play tally at 5:18. Shore made it 4-2 at 12:40 after he attacked the net from below the goal line, wrapped the puck around the cage and slammed it past Ropponen. John Henrion (Holden, Mass.) tallied just 50 seconds later when he banged home Chris Brown's (Flower Mound, Texas) rebound to give the U.S. a three-goal cushion.

Jesse Newman brought the Tigers back within two at 2:26 of the third with a power-play marker. However, Maxwell allowed nothing else and Kevin Lynch (Grosse Pointe, Mich.) added an empty-net goal to account for the 6-3 final.

The U.S. National Under-18 Team will return to action on Saturday against NCAA Division III opponent, Oswego State at 3 p.m. ET in Oswego.
