Topeka Pilots News Release
TOPEKA, KS, JAN 30, 2009: When the Topeka RoadRunners came from behind last Saturday night to defeat the Fairbanks Ice Dogs, it was the perfect end to a night that marked two significant milestones. The first milestone of note was that Saturday?s game was the 100thregular season game played by the RoadRunners since relocating to Topeka after the 2006-07 season. Remarkably, the ?Runners have posted an impressive 72-16-12 mark over those 100 games for a winning pct. of .780, notable by any standard.
The second milestone, simultaneously reached, was that the victory was the 250th regular season victory for a Topeka hockey franchise. The original CHL Scarecrows won 101 games in 3 seasons, the USHL Scarecrows won 61 in two seasons, and the CHL?s Topeka Tarantulas won just 16 games in their lone year of existence. The RoadRunners 2-1 win on Saturday was the teams 33rd of the year, and 72nd since wearing Topeka on their jerseys, bringing the total for the Capital City to 250.
