U.S. National Under-17 Team to Host Traverse City North Stars

THIS WEEK: The U.S. National Under-17 Team will host North American Hockey League North Division-opponent Traverse City (Mich.) on Friday (Oct. 5) at 7:30 PM ET at the Ann Arbor Ice Cube.

U.S. HEAD COACH RON ROLSTON: Ron Rolston is in his fourth season with USA Hockey's National Team Development Program. He has amassed a career record of 122-58-11-6 (W-L-T-OTL).

U.S. HEAD COACH RON ROLSTON ON THE WEEK AHEAD: "Coming off of the road series last weekend, we have had a good chance to address our weaknesses heading into this game. The team has improved from week to week and we're looking forward to this game to see where we're at. Our division is going to be very tough, so we'll have tough games night in and night out, which will be very good for the team's development."

U.S. NATIONAL UNDER-17 TEAM NOTES: The U.S. National Under-17 Team is currently 2-2-0-0 this season ... Five different skaters - Drew Shore (Denver, Colo.), Kyle Palmieri (Montvale, N.J.), Jeremy Morin (Auburn, N.Y.), AJ Treais (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) and Kenny Ryan (Franklin Village, Mich.) - scored goals in Team USA's 5-3 win over Marquette (Sept. 28) ... Shore has notched at least one point in four straight games. He totaled three points (2-1) in last weekend's road series at Marquette ... Goaltender Adam Murray (Anchorage, Alaska) made his first start of the season, stopping 32 shots in a 6-4 loss to Marquette (Sept. 29). Murray joined the U.S. National Under-17 Team in January 2007 and finished the season with an 8-5 record along with a 2.66 goals-against average and a .925 save percentage ... In his two starts between the pipes, Brandon Maxwell (Winter Park, Fla.) is 2-0 with a 2.50 goals-against average and a .924 save percentage ... Team USA is currently 5 for 19 (.263) on the power play this season, including a 4 for 11 (.364) effort in the split with Marquette ... Three players lead Team USA in points with five apiece, including Morin (4-1), Shore (2-3) and Palmieri (1-4).

GAME NOTES: The U.S. National Under-17 and Under-18 Teams have combined for a 6-3-1 record in the NAHL, good enough for first place in the North Division ... The Traverse City North Stars currently sit in third place in the NAHL North Division with a 3-0-3 record ... This will be the first of eight meetings between Traverse City and the U.S. National Under-17 Team.

UP NEXT: The U.S. National Under-17 Team will host NAHL North Division-rival Mahoning Valley (Ohio) next Friday (Oct. 12) at 7:30 p.m. ET and Saturday (Oct. 13) at 7:00 p.m. at the Ann Arbor Ice Cube.

ABOUT THE NTDP: Founded in 1996, USA Hockey's National Team Development Program was created to prepare student-athletes under the age of 18 for participation on U.S. National Teams and success in their future hockey careers. Its efforts focus not only on high-caliber participation on the ice, but creating well-rounded individuals off the ice. Located in Ann Arbor, Mich., the 46 players in the program are split into two squads - the U.S. National Under-18 and Under-17 Teams. In the nine years NTDP players have been eligible for the draft, 141 players have been selected, including the number one overall selection in 2000 (Rick DiPietro), 2006 (Erik Johnson) and 2007 (Patrick Kane).
