U.S. National Under-17 Team Competes in NAHL Playoffs

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Following a second consecutive North American Hockey League North Division title, the U.S. National Under-17 Team will face the Traverse City North Stars in the first round of the North American Hockey League north division playoffs starting this Thursday (Mar. 30) at 7 p.m. at the Ann Arbor Ice Cube.

The NAHL Playoffs consist of a best-of-five game first round, followed by a best-of-seven match-up to determine the division champion. The north division champion will move on to play for the Robertson Cup in Boardman, Ohio, versus three other NAHL division champions and the host Mahoning Valley Phantoms.

The U.S. National Under-17 Team is 3-3-0 versus the North Stars this season, with four of the games decided by one goal. Traverse City is led by 2005 Michigan High School Mr. Hockey finalist Patrick Nagorsen.

"We have had some tough battles with Traverse City this season," said Ron Rolston, head coach of the U.S. National Under-17 Team. "Competing in a playoff environment will continue to challenge our guys and prove to be great experience in the development of our players."
