U.S. National Team News Release


UPCOMING
The US Under-18 team has a three-day-stint in the state of New York as they take on Canisius College on January 21-22, 2005 in Buffalo, NY, and Geneseo State University in Geneseo, NY, on January 23, 2005. The U-18 team will play host to the Cleveland Barons of the NAHL on January 25, 2005 in Ann Arbor, MI.

The US Under-17 Team goes on the road for a January 20, 2005 game in Toledo, OH, against the Toledo Ice Diggers before returning home for back-to-back games against the Youngstown Phantoms on January 22, 2005, and the Cleveland Barons on January 23, 2005. They will have a few days to rest up before hitting the road once again for games January 28-29, 2005 in Youngstown, OH, against the Youngstown Phantoms.

Friday, January 14 – USA 2, Soo 3
SAULT STE. MARIE, MI. – The US Under-18 Team fought hard in a close game on January 14, 2005, but lost to the Soo Indians 2-3. Team USA saw goals from Zac MacVoy (Livonia, MI.) and Justin Mercier (Erie, PA.).

Saturday, January 15, 2005 – USA 3, Springfield (IL.) 1
SPRINGFIELD, IL. – The US Under-18 Team defeated the Springfield Jr. Blues with a 3-2 score. The second period saw scoring for both teams. Jason Lawrence (Saugus, MA.), Danny Fardig (Ann Arbor, MI.), and Nathan Gerbe (Oxford, MI.) produced what would be the only three goals for a team US victory.

Sunday, January 16, 2005 – USA 5, Youngstown 2
YOUNGSTOWN, OH. – The US Under-18 Team skated by the Youngstown Phantoms 5-2. Phil Kessel (Madison, WI.) started off USA's scoring run at 4:05 of period one, and later added an assist to a third period Jason Lawrence (Saugus, MA.) goal. Nathan Gerbe (Oxford, MI.) had a three-point night notching two power-play goals and an assist. Ryan Stoa (Bloomington, MN.) had a pair of assists, which added to the US victory.

Monday, January 17, 2005 – USA 4, Toledo 3
TOLEDO, OH. – After a 2-0 Toledo Ice-Digger's lead after one period, the US Under-18 Team showed their depth as they came back to win 4-3. Danny Fardig (Ann Arbor, MI.) scored in the second period and added an assist later in the third. Phil Kessel (Madison, WI.) added a goal and an assist, which gave him a three-game point streak. Peter Mueller (Bloomington, MN.) also added to the comeback victory with a goal and an assist of his own.
