The 25-year-old winger became one of American soccer's heroes when he tapped in the game winning goal in the 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup versus Panama. Shea has scored a total of four goals in international competition.
"We are thrilled to have Brek Shea in Louisville and available for our fans to meet" said Louisville City general manager Amanda Duffy. "With tremendous success in Major League Soccer and at the international level, our fans have the unique opportunity of meeting a world-class talent at Slugger Field on Monday afternoon. Hosting this meet-and-greet a day before the club hosts Orlando City is one more way we can show our appreciation to our fans as we continue to showcase the club and the city of Louisville on a national stage."
Before going to Orlando City SC, Shea joined Barclay Premier League's Stoke City in 2013. The College Station, Texas native got the attention England's top flight league after a successful few years with FC Dallas where he tallied 19 goals in 98 appearances. A monumental 2011 campaign earned Shea Major League Soccer's Most Valuable Player award.
Now with MLS newcomers Orlando and still a big part of the USMNT, Shea's legendary status in the U.S. soccer scene continues to grow.
Joining Shea in Louisville this week are number of other big names such as Rookie of the Year candidate, Cyle Larin, former MLS Cup champion Aurelien Collin. Brazilain international, Ricardo Kaka, will not be available, as he was flown to Orlando following OCSC's loss to Toronto FC on Saturday night.
