U-17s take a win from Youngstown, 4-3

ANN ARBOR, MICH. –The U.S. National Under-17 Team defeated the Youngstown Phantoms Tuesday night (March 22), 4-3. The Under-17s took a 1-0 lead when Chad Morin (Auburn, N.Y.) netted a goal on the power play at the 7:30 mark. Youngstown would score twice, taking a 2-1 lead before the U.S. would even the score at two, when Patrick Kane (Buffalo, N.Y.) struck within the final two minutes of the opening period, again on the power play.

In period two, the Phantoms would again take the lead, 3-2, at 17:15. Just 1:31 later, Trent Palm (Edina, Minn.) would tie the game with a power play goal, sending it into the third period with a 3-3 score.

The game looked to go into overtime before Trent Palm scored his second goal of the evening at 17:42 of period three, which made out to be the game winner.

Patrick Kane led all scorers with three points (1PPG, 2A). Trent Palm had two points in the contest (1PPG, 1GWG), as did Michael Carman (Apple Valley, Minn.) (2A). U.S. goaltender Billy Blase (Santa Monica, Calif.) stopped 20 of 23 shots.
