March 22, 2005 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Fargo-Moorhead Jets News Release
Fargo (ND) As the regular season comes to a close, the Fargo-Moorhead Jets are eyeing team, individual and regional records. Some of these records have already fallen, while others are within striking distance with the final weekend of the regular season approaching.
The Jets play their final regular season game on Saturday March 26 in Alexandria against the Minnesota Blizzard.
All of these stats and records are for regular season only.
Most Single-Season Wins by FM Team
With 36 wins on the season thus far, the Jets are within one victory of tying the all-time record for most single-season wins by a Fargo-Moorhead Junior A hockey team. The 1974-1975 FM Sugar Kings went 37-23-0 in the Midwest Junior Hockey League. The Sugar Kings finished with a .617% winning percentage, which the Jets will top this season.
If the Jets win at Minnesota on Saturday, they will tie the record.
The Bears and Ice Sharks averaged only 22 wins a season in their five combined years in the United States Hockey League.
Most Single-Season Goals by FM Jets Player
Chris Myhro (Eden Prairie, MN) has 27 goals this season which is a new Jets record. Current Bemidji State player Shane Holman scored 21goals last season. Myhro broke the record with his 22nd goal of the season against Minnesota on March 4.
The all-time single-season goal record is held by former Ice Shark Tyler Arnason who tallied 37 goals in the 1997-1998 season.
Myhro has 46 goals in two seasons with the Jets.
If Myhro can net a hat trick against Minnesota on Saturday, he will move into a tie for third place all-time on the single-season scoring record sheet in Fargo-Moorhead history.
Most Single-Season Points by a FM Jets Player
Phil Fox (Stillwater, MN) enters the final game of the regular season with 59 points. The Jets franchise record is 61, which current Quinnipiac player Mark Agnew scored last season with Fargo-Moorhead.
If Fox ties Agnew on Saturday, he will also move into a tie for third place all-time for the most points in a single-season from a Fargo-Moorhead junior hockey player. 1997-1998 Ice Shark Tyler Arnason had 82 points that season.
Highest Save Percentage by a FM Jets Player
Goaltender Andy Stricker (St. George, UT) is not likely to play the Jets regular season finale. However, he goes into the final weekend already with a record already in hand. Stricker has a .916% save percentage which is higher than his .911% save percentage last season. This means Stricker has set a new Jets record for save percentage. In addition, his .916% save percentage is the third highest in a season by a junior hockey player in Fargo-Moorhead.
Kevin O'Malley had the highest save percentage in a single-season at .925% for the 1997-1998 Ice Sharks.
The Fargo-Moorhead Jets are the 2004-2005 North American Hockey League West Division regular season champions. The Jets will have home-ice advantage in the Borne Cup playoffs, which will begin in early April. A full playoff schedule will be announced later this week.
The FM Jets are in their second season as members of the North American Hockey League. The NAHL is the nation's largest Junior A hockey league and is now in its 29th year of operation.
Jets home games are played at the John E. Carlson Coliseum in Fargo, ND. All games are broadcast at STAR 103.9 and fmjets.com.
