Texas Tycoons News Release

Dallas, TX - The game of Texas vs. Arkansas has always been a classic. In the past, the divisional race would usually come down to these two storied franchises. This season's match-up featured the undefeated Arkansas Aeros who came to Dallas with one of the most potent line-ups in the league. The Aeros, 4-0 on the early season, have had very convincing wins against Monterrey, Mississippi, Houston, and their cross State rival Arkansas Rivercats. Defeating their previous opponents by an average of over 30 points per game had the Aeros riding high into Big D. The Aeros feature former Milwaukee Buck swing man Todd Day (6'8''-G/F-70, college: Arkansas), former USBL Player of the Year Quannas White (6'1''-G-81, agency: Hart Sports Mngm, college: Oklahoma), and sharp shooters Curtis Haywood (6'6''-G-75, college: Oklahoma City) and Jarred Merrill (6'9''-F-81, college: Oklahoma Christian) along with the University of Oklahoma's do everything forward Daryan Selvy (6'6''-F/G-79, college: Oklahoma). With a deep bench to go with that group of starters, Aeros Head Coach Bob Hoffman and company are one of the early season favorites to challenge for an ABA title this season.

Matching up with the Aeros in Big D in this Thursday night classic were Dallas/Fort Worth's own Texas Tycoons. The Tycoons have title aspirations of their own and feature an exciting collection of high level talent at each position. Head Coach Chris Terrell's cast this season includes 10 born and bred DFW all-stars including Jerome Rogers (5'10''-G-81, college: N.Texas) who had 27 points on the night, connecting on 5 of 10 from downtown to go with Josh Gonner (6'2''-G-82, college: S.Carolina) (3-9 3ptrs) and Brandon Lee (6'3''-G, college: Tarleton St.) (5-8 from 3) who came up big with 23 each in the contest. John Woods (6'4''-G-76, college: Missouri) had a huge 20 points with his marksmenship shooting from the perimeter also connecting on 4 of 6 shots from distance. Donnie Beacham (6'5''-F-81, college: Texas Arlington) was 9-14 from the field for 18 points and collected 10 rebounds and 3 blocks. Benny West (6'3''-G, agency: ProSportsCareers, college: Howard Payne) and Randall Williams (6'8''-C-82, college: Tarleton St.) both made their presence felt with 9 points each, West also collecting 6 boards and 2 very key steals for lay-ups with the 3-D light on. All told it was a complete team effort as the Tycoons kept coming in waves, all 10 players who suited up played 12 minutes or more, all making key offensive and defensive contributions. For the Aeros, the aforementioned Daryan Selvy had 28 points and 13 rebounds on the night to go with teammate Curtis Haywood's 20 but it wasn't enough in Dallas as the Tycoons hit on 19 of 36 shots from beyond the arc en route to a 142 point performance. Final Score at Mountain View College, Texas Tycoons 142, Arkansas Aeros 122. With the win the Tycoons move to 3-1 on the season while the Aeros with their first loss fall to 4-1.

The Texas Tycoons welcome Arkansas's other team to Dallas on Friday night as Kareem Reid and the Arkansas RiverCats attempt to even the score for their state, tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 at Dallas's Mountain View College.
