TWO WAVE CHAMPIONS SELECTED IN MISL EXPANSION DRAFT
Pat White and Ricardinho Chosen by California Cougars
MILWAUKEE (Wednesday, June 22, 2005) - Milwaukee Wave head coach and vice president of soccer operations Keith Tozer announced today that two players were selected during today's Major Indoor Soccer League Expansion Draft for the California Cougars. Defender Pat White and midfielder Ricardinho were chosen by Troy Dayak, Cougars head coach and vice president of soccer operations.
"With our deep roster this season, I found it extremely difficult to choose only 11 players to protect from this draft," said Tozer. "It's a sad day for our franchise to lose two quality men from our Championship team. Thankfully, Pat will remain with us for the 2005 Summer Soccer Camp Program as a Site Director."
Pat White was the first-round (second overall) draft choice of the Milwaukee Wave in the 1995 NPSL Amateur Draft. The Milwaukee native has played his entire 10-year career with the Wave, registering his 450th career block during the final game of the 2004-05 regular season versus the Baltimore Blast. White leads the Wave all-time records in blocks with 453.
Ricardinho joined the Wave following the January 5 Dispersal Draft, from the MISL Monterrey team. As a member of the 2005 MISL Champion Wave team, Ricardinho played in 21 games, contributing two goals and nine assists for 11 points during the regular season. In the postseason, Ricardinho tallied a goal in Game Two of the Finals on May 21 versus the Cleveland Force.
