Two Walk Offs Down Steamers at Holly Springs

Game 1:

The Salamanders took the early lead in the second inning when Zach Tondi hit a two-RBI single off Chris Ramirez to give Holly Springs the lead. Holly Springs added to their lead in the fourth when a Steamers' error brought home a run to make it 3-0.

Chris Ayers came up big for Edenton in this game. Ayers cut into the lead in the fifth with a solo shot to make it 3-1. He tied the game in the sixth after he hit a two-run home run out to right field.

Edenton got a strong outing out of Chris Ramirez. Ramirez went seven innings giving up three runs on six hits with two walks and four strikeouts.

The Salamanders got their big hit in the extra frame. Dalton Hoiles sent a line-drive home run over the left-field wall to give Holly Springs the 4-3 victory. Josh Steele (1-2) got the loss for Edenton, while Rabon Martin (2-0) picked up the win for Holly Springs.

Game 2:

Holly Springs jumped out ahead once again. Adam Sisk got an RBI single to right center to bring home Cory Wood in the bottom half of the first. The Steamers responded in the top half of the second inning with an RBI single by Dom Cuevas to tie the game at 1-1. Edenton took their first lead of the night on an RBI single by William Robbins, in the fourth, to make it 2-1.

Edenton added to their lead in the sixth when the Clams brought home two runs on a wild pitch. The Salamanders responded with two runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning off of Cody Maw to cut the lead to 4-3. Maw went 5.1 inning giving up three runs on six hits with two walks and seven strikeouts.

After a walk to Josh Hollander and a bunt single by Cory Wood, the Salamanders got their second walk off hit of the night. Adam Sisk singled back up the middle off of Carmen Giampetruzzi to bring home a run. On the same play, Edenton threw the ball away at second base when Sisk tried to advance on the throw to third to bring home the game-winning run for a 5-4 victory.

The Teal and Black will have an off day tomorrow and be back in action on Monday at Historic Hicks Field against Peninsula. First pitch is set for 7:00 p.m.
