Two to be Honored at Hot Stove

SYRACUSE (NY) – The Syracuse SkyChiefs announced today that the club will honor BOB SCALIONE and JOHN DUFFY at the team's annual HOT STOVE tomorrow January 27th at the Holiday Inn in Liverpool.

SCALIONE, will receive the Tom Higgins Bull Pen Chief Award given annually by the SkyChiefs to a community leader who has provided exemplary support for professional baseball in Syracuse. SCALIONE is a partner at Melvin and Melvin, PLCC. He is a long time supporter of baseball in Central New York and currently his firm donates money to the Francis House anytime a SkyChiefs player hits a home run or ground rule double over the Melvin and Melvin sign in right-centerfield.

DUFFY, will receive the Jake Meyers Great Guy Award given annually by the SkyChiefs to an individual who devotes a good deal of their time to further enhance Syracuse SkyChiefs baseball in Central New York. DUFFY has been associated with the Community Owned Baseball team since 1973 managing the Food Service at both MacArthur Stadium and P&C Stadium. He also served in many management roles with ARA Services, now known as ARAMARK, including six Olympic Games, the University of South Carolina Football Stadium, the University of Virginia football and basketball stadium's and on Rod Stewart's 13 country European Tour in 1986. Although he retired as General Manager of Centerplate's P&C Stadium operation before last season, he still works a full schedule at the ballpark in other capacities.

The SkyChiefs 44th Annual Hot Stove is tomorrow, Thursday January 27th at the Holiday Inn Liverpool from 6 PM to 8 PM. Scheduled guest include SkyChiefs manager MARTY PEVEY, SkyChiefs outfielder ANTON FRENCH, Blue Jays Assistant GM TIM MCCLEARY, former Expos GM JIM FANNING and Auburn Doubleday's Pitching Coach TOM SIGNORE.

Prior to the event, a Silent Auction of sports memorabilia will take place featuring such items as a Nolan Ryan autograph baseball card, Scott Walker Nashville Predators autograph jersey, Boston Celtics great JoJo White autograph basketball, a Vernon Wells autographed bat and much more. Net proceeds from the Silent Auction will go to benefit a local charity. The Silent Auction will begin at 6 PM.

Tickets are $5 for adults and free for children 12 years of age and younger. Tickets are now available at the SkyChiefs offices at P&C Stadium during normal business hours.
