
Two Roadrunners named Rookies of the Year

The Central League has named Edinburg OF Matt Spencer and pitcher Kevin Hull as its Rookie of the Year and Rookie Pitcher of the Year, respectively, for the 2005 season, as voted upon by league managers.
Spencer hit .313 with 24 doubles, 47 RBI and 52 runs scored in 90 games to help lead the Roadrunners to a berth in the 2005 playoffs. The Rowlett, Texas, native played college baseball at Navarro College, where he was named Texas Eastern Athletic Conference All-Conference in 2002 and 2003; in 2004, he played at the University of Texas.
In 18 starts for Edinburg, Hull went 8-6 and finished second in the league with a 3.53 ERA, striking out 101 in 120 innings. The New Braunfels, Texas, resident was selected by manager Vince Moore out of a tryout camp after pitching in 2004 for Northwest Oklahoma State University. He also pitched collegiately at Eastern New Mexico University.
