The Escondido, Calif., native finished the season third in the league with a .343 average, fourth with 86 RBI and fifth with a .405 on-base percentage.
A 24th-round pick of Detroit in the 2004 draft out of Lamar University, the 23-year-old spent last season with the Tigers of the Gulf Coast League, hitting .213. While at Lamar, he hit .363 as a senior in 2004, and was selected as an All-American in 2003 after setting new school season records with a .417 average, 96 hits and 29 doubles.
Snow had two superb outings: Monday in the first game of a doubleheader vs. San Angelo, he pitched a complete-game one-hitter, allowing one run and striking out six, while on Saturday vs. El Paso, the 27-year old threw six innings, giving up one run on three hits and fanning six for his eleventh win of the season. On the season, Snow finished 11-6 with a 3.92 ERA, eighth-best in the league; he also had 122 strikeouts in 121.2 innings, third-most in the CL.
The Brooksville, Fla., native was originally a 10th-round pick of Oakland in the 1998 draft out of Vanderbilt University, and spent seven years with the Athletics organization. In 2000 with Midland, Snow led the Texas League with 27 saves and 59 games pitched. He reached AAA in 1999, 2000 and 2003. This was his first season in independent baseball.
