Richmond Raiders News Release
RICHMOND, Va. (June 9, 2015) - The Professional Indoor Football League (PIFL) named two Raiders as Week 12 players of the week on Tuesday. DL Blade Shoop and KR Daron Clark earned the honors in the defensive and special teams categories respectively for their stellar play in Saturday's 54-30 win over Nashville.
Shoop, a newcomer to the Raiders, had a huge game defensively, as he recorded 6.5 tackles, one forced fumble, and 3.5 sacks in the win. In total, the Raiders recorded six sacks on Saturday. Clark, a well-known player to Raiders fans, had a total of 83 return yards, one of which was a 53-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. He also played a role in the Raiders receiving corps with two receptions that were both touchdowns.
With Saturday's win, the Raiders moved themselves into second place in league standings and set a PIFL team-high for number of games won in a row. If Richmond can win their next game against the Erie Explosion on June 20, they will solidify their position and host their first playoff game. A win against Erie would also be the team's sixth straight win. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. on June 20 at the Richmond Coliseum.
