South Georgia Wildcats News Release

ALBANY, GA- The South Georgia Wildcats are extremely pleased to announce that two more members of the 2007 team have signed AFL contracts. WR Chavis McCollister has signed with the Kansas City Brigade while DB Daryon Brutley has signed with the Tampa Bay Storm.

Chavis McCollister recorded 139 receptions and amassed 1,738 yards receiving. While 36 of those catches went for touchdowns, he added 3 rushing touchdowns as well. Chavis was also an af2 first team All Conference selection.

"I said before the season started that I thought Chavis was one of the best receivers in our league. It took him a few years to prove that at this level, but I think given the opportunity he'll prove it in the AFL as well," said Head Coach Derek Stingley.

Daryon Brutley set a franchise record with 9 interceptions on the season. He also led the team in tackles with 68.5 and pass break-ups with 17.

"Brutley was our best hitter, cover-guy, and playmaker in the secondary. He's traveled a long road to get back to the AFL and he deserves this chance as much as anybody in the game does," commented Coach Stingley.

McCollister will join teammate James Robinson in Kansas City, while Brutley and D. Bryant look to make impacts with the Georgia Force and Tampa Bay Storm respectively.

"Chavis and Brutley will be remembered for huge individual performances on the field, but the leadership and passion to the game they brought to our team was just as important. These two guys are what this league is all about and if they hadn't signed on with AFL teams, I think we all would have been left wondering what was going in," said General Manager Darren McPhail.
