
Two-Game Win Streak for Cheetahs

CRESTWOOD, IL (Wednesday, May 22, 2002) â With opening day a week away, the Cook County Cheetahs find themselves 2-0 in exhibition play and on the right track for the 2002 season, after beating the I.B.A. All-Stars 13-1. "The guys swung the bats well today", said Manager Chad Epperson. "We go to Rockford on Friday, lets take it one game at a time and continue hitting and pitching like we have been."
In the first inning, the Cheetahs had 8 runs on 5 hits off I.B.A. starter Kobayashi. In his first at bat, LF James Rinne blasted his second home run in two days over the left field fence. "I caught a good fast ball", said Rinne. The Cheetahs had 11 hits with 5 home runs and only one error in the game.
Starting pitcher, Eric White went four innings to get the win for the Cheetahs. "My pitches were right on today", said White. "It took me a few pitches in the first inning to get it together, but over all, I would say it was a good outing". White gave up three hits, walked two and had three strikeouts. The I.B.A. All-Stars finished the evening with, seven hits, one unearned run that came in the sixth inning.
The Cheetahs play their next exhibition series against the Rockford RiverHawks on the 24th at Rockford at 5pm and the 26th at 1pm at Hawkinson Ford Field. Both games are double-headers. The game at Hawkinson Ford Field is open to the public and seating as available.
