Columbus Lions News Release
The Columbus Lions are proud to announce to re-signing of two former Lions for the 2019 roster. Defensive lineman/Linebacker Greg Hall Jr. (6'4, 250 - Auburn) and Wide receiver Darryl Thompson (5'8, 180 - Texas A&M Commerce) have both returned to the Lions after being on the roster for the 2018 NAL season.
Greg Hall Jr., known locally for playing career at Auburn, made a huge splash early during his rookie season of Arena Football. In his first career game, a Week 2 tilt vs Lehigh Valley, Hall recorded 2.5 TFLs, two sacks, and a fumble recovery. His dominating effort earned him a Week 2 NAL Player of the Week accolade. Hall continued enforcing his will upon Offensive Linemen, and dominated the start of the 2018 campaign. Unfortunately, Hall was sidelined for the remainder of the year after appearing in only 6 games due to injury. Since the injury, Hall has recovered 100% and will appear to be a unstoppable force again this season for the Lions.
Darryl Thompson, a late season addition for the Lions in 2018, has agreed to terms with the Lions for the 2019 season and the dynamic playmaker will look to make a huge impact for the Lions. Known for his elite speed and premier route running, Thompson is no stranger to professional football. After beginning his career with a two year stint in the Fall Experimental Football League, Thompson quickly rose the ranks in Arena Football. His breakout year came in 2017 as a member of Lions' rival, the Jacksonville Sharks, in which Thompson hauled in 45 receptions for 635 yards and 11 TDs in only 11 games played. Before his professional career, Thompson starred at Texas A&M Commerce after transferring from Hudson Valley Community College.
