Fayetteville SwampDogs News Release
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.- The Fayetteville SwampDogs announced today the signing of two Le Moyne University Dolphins for the 2011 summer. Mark Kuzma and Michael Anarumo will make their SwampDogs debut this June. Mark Kuzma, a 6-3, junior southpaw, looks to secure his spot in the SwampDogs already impressive rotation. For the Dolphins this spring he pitched over 50 innings while striking out 32 batters, with two complete games. The Waverly, NY native was second on the team in 2010 for innings pitched with 67.2, earning a 3-4 record with 50 strikeouts.
Michael Anarumo joins the Dogs as a steady option out of the bullpen. The 6-5, 220-pound junior has made 12 appearances this spring with two starts. This lefty has earned a 4-1 record in 31.1 innings with 25 strikeouts. The Levittown, NY native threw 11 innings fanning 11 in 2010.
"You can never have enough quality left-handed pitching during the summer," said SwampDogs head coach Darrell Handelsman. "I anticipate both of these guys playing a key role on our 2011 pitching staff and look forward to having them on the team as we make our push for the Pettit Cup."
